Solution
To meet AGIE CHARMILLES’ design requirements, Camozzi Automation contributed to the development of the new CUT S 400 and CUT S 600 by supplying a fully integrated set of high-performance technologies. The collaboration was structured as a genuine co-design process: the engineering teams of both companies worked side by side, evaluating every component and defining a customized pneumatic solution.
At the core of the proposal is the Series D valve island in a multipolar configuration, equipped with Camozzi’s patented CoilVision® technology. This solution monitors and analyzes key valve parameters in real time, enabling advanced diagnostics and predictive maintenance. The island is also designed for integration with modern industrial communication protocols, including EtherCAT.
The machine is equipped with a centralized air treatment system Series MD, engineered to ensure extremely high filtration levels upstream of the entire pneumatic circuit. This choice provides maximum protection for pneumatic components in a complex application environment such as EDM. The solution is further completed by high-precision pressure regulators for the most sensitive subsystems and by digital flow meters installed at critical points of the circuit, enabling real-time monitoring of airflow and early detection of anomalies.
The true added value lies in the creation of a fully pre-assembled pneumatic panel, complete with all components and ready for installation on the machine, significantly reducing set-up and integration times during the final assembly phase.
Results
Thanks to Camozzi Automation’s contribution, AGIE CHARMILLES developed a next-generation EDM platform in exceptionally short time, completing the project in just seven to eight months. Today, the new CUT S 400 and CUT S 600 offer a unique combination of precision, stability, and accessibility, featuring a symmetrical architecture that supports robot integration on both sides.
The advanced diagnostics enabled by CoilVision® technology reduce the risk of machine downtime and allow continuous monitoring of pneumatic components, improving operational reliability and extending the service life of the valves. The high filtration quality, combined with accurate pressure regulation and real-time monitoring through digital flow meters, ensures consistent performance even under demanding operating conditions.
The collaboration led to the development of a smarter, more robust machine fully prepared for integration with IIoT ecosystems and advanced digital protocols. This project represents a concrete example of how co-design can accelerate innovation and generate solutions that meet the needs of the digital factory, strengthening the strategic partnership between AGIE CHARMILLES and Camozzi Automation.
