Needs
At the heart of the process there is a proportional valve, which must allow for very high dynamics. The technical specifications required are particularly stringent and revolve around speed of response, high flow rate to quickly fill the canister, and need to precisely control pressure.
As the project manager Corrado Giannone, Sagicofim maintenance engineer, explains: “Camozzi’s flagship valve, Series LR servo valve, was chosen because it meets all our needs: high flow rate, fine adjustment, short response time”.
The Series LR servo valves use the rotating spool principle: a rotating spool is moved by a miniaturised motor and is controlled in an angular position by integrated electronics: in this way, a high dynamic control is obtained with reduced hysteresis. The valve in the form of a cartridge can be manufactured as a flow, pressure and position servo valve.
Results
With this system, operating frequencies up to 70 Hz and response times ranging from 1 to 5 ms (from 0 to 100% adjustment movement) can be reached. Linearity and repeatability reach values under 1%, for a flow rate of over 1,000 Nl / min.
Among the advantages of the Series LR, there is also the possibility of reprogramming the integrated PID control, so as to optimise accuracy when fully operational and transient response.
The new automatic testing system adds advantages to the test history: each test is tracked and stored and represents the digital DNA of the tested system, containing both the test results and additional parameters (temperatures, humidity, pressure ...).
The system is also easily reconfigurable: using a dashboard, one can set different thresholds and parameters, as required by different regulations or by customers in different business sectors that require more or less stringent conditions.
Finally, the quality of the test also benefits from an automatic system, which is less susceptible to human error and is capable of ensuring greater repeatability of the test.
