Solution
After defining the process and designing a compact and modular line, Indeco Automation partnered with Camozzi Automation to identify the most suitable technologies to meet the flexibility, precision, and traceability requirements.
The process of the new assembly line is performed within a fully automated cell, which includes twin electric presses, systems to pick up and heat the casings, press-fitting stations, a robot for thermal paste dispensing and component assembly, as well as screwing and end-of-line testing stations. Each product is then individually marked and finally released.
Camozzi Automation's support was essential both in defining the components and in managing the entire analysis, calculation, and sizing phase.
Camozzi Automation provided a range of high-performance and integrated components, including electric axes with integrated drive Series DRVI to optimise precision, speed, and footprint. The Series D valve island, equipped with CoilVision technology and wired with IO-Link, enables predictive maintenance and operational condition analysis in line with Industry 5.0 principles. Additionally, two and three-jaw pneumatic grippers were used to ensure a secure and versatile grip, along with a Series MX SAFEMAX safety valve integrated into the air treatment system to enhance the system’s safety, and Series MST mini-slides to reduce the overall footprint of the line.
Complementary components included a Series QR rotary actuator, ISO cylinders with rod lock, traditional valves with M8 connectors, vacuum components, and GRIPfit push-in fittings.
Thanks to the co-design approach between Indeco and Camozzi Automation, an innovative and flexible solution has been developed, tailored to meet production needs while ensuring maximum efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The integration of advanced systems allowed production data monitoring, improving process control and enabling predictive maintenance interventions and optimisation of energy consumption.
Results
Camozzi Automation played a key role in the selection, customisation, analysis, and optimisation of the technological solutions adopted.
Thanks to the integration of proprietary software, the system can be monitored and adjusted, allowing for parameterisation of the valves and electric axes.
To ensure high safety standards, the line is equipped with safety valves up to Performance Level D, in compliance with the Machinery Directive, guaranteeing a high level of safety required by the presence of robots and electric presses. Additionally, the choice of electric axes not only optimised the precision of operations but also overall energy efficiency.
An added value is Camozzi Automation's ability to adapt to the project’s ongoing evolutions, offering integrated solutions and technical alternatives to address potential challenges. The timely supply of components and the ability to develop bespoke solutions makes it possible to respond swiftly to production needs.
The collaboration between Indeco and Camozzi Automation also led to technical improvements on the machine, including firmware updates to optimise axis zeroing. This innovative and proactive approach makes Camozzi Automation not just a component supplier but a strategic partner in developing advanced industrial automation solutions.
